The “Fritz Jahr” Documentation and Research Centre for European Bioethics was founded in 2013 and is one of the four constituents of the Scientific Centre of Excellence for Integrative Bioethics. The most important goals of the Centre are:

• providing the institutional basis for permanent gathering, training and retention of young professionals in the field of bioethics
• implementing research projects in the field of bioethics, particularly European bioethics
• arranging and making available the documentation material in the field of bioethics
• preparing the institutional platform for scientific and developmental projects in the field of bioethics
• better regional, European and global positioning of Rijeka and the University of Rijeka, as well as of Croatian bioethics and science in general
